Frequently Asked Questions

How do I pay for the course?
To enrol onto any Fitness Qualifications, you will need to send in a completed enrolment form or apply and pay online. Students must then, pay the balance exactly one month prior to the start of their chosen course.

Am I eligible to get the course for £99.00?
If you are under 19 on the 1st of August of the current academic year and not studying at Cambridge Regional College then - Yes.

How do I book on to the course?
Either on line or by post – downloading the postal booking form.

How long is the course?
Intensive programmes are between 1 week end to 3 months depending on the qualification. Full details will be on each programme specification and displayed on the course calendar. If studying on line then you will have up to 1 year to complete your studies.

Who are the qualifications accredited with?
All qualifications are accredited by Central YMCA Qualifications (CYQ) and Registered on the Register of Exercise Professionals (REP’s).

Will everything be completed in the course dates?
Yes, unless an alternative assessment date is required.

What happens when I pass?
You will be told by your tutor and will receive certification from the awarding body.

What happens if I fail?
You will be given support and guidance by your assessor and offered the opportunity for a re assessment.

Will there be both theory and practical in the course?
Yes each course will have both a theory and practical element.

Will I be required to do additional work at home?
Yes, there will be a requirement for home study and it is actively encouraged to ensure your successful completion.

Is there any additional costs?
No, unless you need a re assessment date or extra manuals.

Shall I buy some learning materials before I start the course?
You will be given a full set of resources that will support you whilst studying. If you wish you may begin to read up on Anatomy and Physiology before your course starts.

How do I get to the venue?
It is down to the candidate to plan routes and accommodation if required. All venues have good Public Transport access, addresses are available on the venue website.

Do you offer accommodation?
No

Is travel included in the price?
No

How do I pay for the course?
Either by cheque in the post along with your booking form or on-line when booking.

Can I get the discount on top of the funding?
No

How many courses can I get funded?
1 per academic year (August to August)

Is there funding available for over 19’s?
If you have proof of benefits or currently do not hold a full level 2 qualifications then there may be funding available. Please contact one of our advisors for further details.

Where do I get a booking form from?
Downloadable to post, our you can complete on line.

Can I pay over the telephone or online?
There is no telephone payment facility. All payment must be made on line or by post.

What can I do with my qualification?
Depending at what level of qualification you complete, most candidates go on to work and Gym Instructors or Personal Trainers. Some start their own businesses delivering private classes across the country.

Is there any entry requirements?
Yes please see each individual qualification specification.

What is expected from me on the course?
100% attendance, commitment and drive to do well.

What can I expect from the instructors on the course?
Up to date, current Industry expertise from real trainers with successful back grounds in the fitness industry; all with qualified teacher status or working towards.

What happens if I miss a day during the course?
Attendance is vital to ensure your successful completion. However this cannot always be guaranteed by each candidate. The training team will do all that they can to support candidates to catch up. In some cases candidates may need to re book onto another programme.

Can I work abroad with your qualifications?
CYQ has worldwide recognition in most major Leisure Facilities.

Do the qualifications expire?
No – however candidates will need to up skill throughout their careers to remain registered on the Register of Exercise Professionals (REP’s).

If I pass one unit of the course and not the other is there a time scale in which I need to complete the other unit?
As soon as possible while it still remains fresh in your mind. Qualifications should be completed within a year.

Can I still book on to a course whilst I have an injury?
This would depend on the injury and if it would affect the practical participation. It is recommended to seek medical approval if you are concerned from your doctor. And to discuss your limitations with one of our training advisors.
