Great news If you are between the ages of 16 and 19 years on the 1st September at the start of the current Academic year and considering continuing your education - then your training will be paid for by the government.

Employed/ Volunteering and not in Education

On 1st April 2009 a new project started in the East of England that offers fully funded training courses for individuals who are employed or regularly volunteer in the sport and active leisure sector. Managed by ACER (the Association of Colleges in the Eastern Region) and delivered by County Sport Partnerships, FE Colleges and National Governing Bodies of Sport, the project will offer the opportunity to access sport and active leisure qualifications that are 100% funded.

Application Process

Application is by way of an online "expression of interest" which is available on the SkillsActive website - it should take no longer than 10 minutes to complete. Please note that the application process will ask for a referee to be given (name, address & contact details) from the sporting environment where you currently work/volunteer - please ensure you have this information available.
